Almond Zigmund makes large-scale site-responsive installations, discrete sculptures, works on paper, and paintings that explore the interplay between space, perception, and the built environment. Her work is characterized by crisp geometry, vivid colors, and intricate patterns that often suggest walls, barricades, and enclosures. Zigmund is also the creator of Almond Artist & Writers, family-style dinners at the restaurant Almond in Bridgehampton where people come together to share and celebrate the artistic process; she has organized more than sixty-five gatherings to date. It is in this spirit of supporting the power of community engagement that Zigmund was invited to create a site-specific environment in conjunction with the exhibition Functional Relationships: Artist-Made Furniture. Wading Room houses selections from Guild Hall’s permanent collection; functional, artist-made furniture for public use, including chairs designed by Almond Zigmund in collaboration with Justin Allen (Shepard Co Design); and other artist-made objects: lighting, chairs, rugs, stools, vessels, and sculpture. The artists Liz Collins, Sabra Moon Elliot, Kurt Gumaer, Saskia Friedrich, Karen Simon, and Nico Yektai have also contributed to the space. A series of participatory public programs and collaborative projects will take place throughout the run of the exhibition. We encourage visitors to linger, lounge, and interact in an artist-designed environment and to visit often to explore its potential. This exhibition was organized by Melanie Crader, museum director and curator of visual arts, with Philippa Content, museum manager and registrar and Claire Hunter, museum coordinator and curatorial associate.
“I started making couches about 1969 or 1970. I needed some place to sit down, which is the best reason for making them, I suppose.” —John Chamberlain. Artists often come to be associated with specific mediums or bodies of work when in fact their practices are much more expansive. Visual artists are frequently also musicians, designers, performers, filmmakers, writers, furniture makers, and so on. An encounter with one of the couches made by John Chamberlain, an artist best known for his metal sculptures, can be surprising, but the reality is that artists integrate their studio practices into all their life activities. This presentation focuses on East End artists who have produced functional furniture as an extension of their creative practices—as a means of problem-solving, as an element of designed living, and as a way to foster social spaces. Functional Relationships: Artist-Made Furniture presents work by Scott Bluedorn, John Chamberlain, Liz Collins, Quentin Curry, Peter Dayton, Connie Fox, Kurt Gumaer, Mary Heilmann, Yung Jake, Donald Judd, Julian Schnabel, Karen Simon, Strong-Cuevas, Mark Wilson, Robert Wilson, Evan Yee, Nico Yektai, and Almond Zigmund. In conjunction with Functional Relationships, Guild Hall commissioned two projects as further explorations of this common practice: Lindsay Morris’s photographs of interior spaces show how artists utilize furniture and shape their domestic environments, while Almond Zigmund’s installation Wading Room in the Marks Family South Gallery provides an artist-designed environment for activation through public use and a series of participatory programs. This exhibition was organized by Melanie Crader, museum director and curator of visual arts, with Philippa Content, museum manager and registrar and Claire Hunter, museum coordinator and curatorial associate.

v> No Sailor No Sailor is singer-songwriter Kieran Garvey and his five-piece folk band. Their fun and classical approach to folk has been described as "heartwarming and authentic" and “destined for the stages of Newport Folk Festival.” Since their early days in small European cafes, No Sailor has a history of casting a wide net around their audience. Their passionate stage presence has earned them comparisons to The Head And The Heart , Gregory Alan Isakov , and The Lumineers . Garvey’s earnest songwriting, paired with a semi-classical band, has a profound way of playing on your heart strings. From the exuberance of ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors,’ to the melancholic strings on ‘Wedding Cake,’ the songs arc from euphoric folk rock to confessional orchestral ballads. A decades long seasonal resident of the East End, Kieran and his band of locals (Ryan Sherman, Morgan Tracey, Jack Marshall) are regulars at the Montauk Music Festival and The Stephen Talkhouse. Their ominous new single “Tactless Butcher” comes out November 15th on all streaming platforms. Reilly Rose Reilly Rose is imaginative and introspective artist who blends indie, pop and folk genres. The NYC based singer/songwriter creates music that feels both whimsical and profound through her piano accompaniment and vivid storytelling. Reilly Rose’s music is characterized by a sharp wit, poetic lyricism, and an ability to capture complex emotions in unexpected ways. She incorporates her comedic practices into her live performances with audience engagement and conversational banter. She hopes to inspire others to laugh, dance, and sing—all at the same time! </

They said it couldn’t be done. Four different songwriters joining forces to form a single band? There was simply no precedent (outside of CSNY, The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys, The Highwaymen, Monsters of Folk, etc). And yet Fantastic Cat did it anyway, defying the odds and teaming up to record their highly unanticipated 2022 debut, The Very Best Of Fantastic Cat. Hailed by Rolling Stone as "a wildly satisfying collection of folk-rock, country, Americana, and good old rock & roll" that offers “equal doses of Dylan and Springsteen,” the album earned the vocal-trading, instrument-swapping collective their national TV debut, sold-out headline dates around the US and Europe, festival performances everywhere from Sundance to Take Root, and a song in the Paramount+ series Tulsa King. In 2023, the unlikely four-piece collaborated with all-star producer Butch Walker on a 50th anniversary recording of Wings’ “Band On The Run,” which prompted even more love from Rolling Stone, who dubbed them “the Harlem Globetrotters of Americana.” Individually, each member of Fantastic Cat boasts their own impressive resume along with a litany of critical acclaim. Paste declared Don DiLego's latest album a "stunner.” NPR said Anthony D’Amato “sings and writes in the tradition of Bruce Springsteen or Josh Ritter.” Rolling Stone called Brian Dunne’s new record “the sleeper album of the year” and praised Mike Montali’s band, Hollis Brown, as “the soundtrack for a late-night drive through the American heartland.” Collectively, though, the four transcend their respective roots, emerging here as velvet-clad rock and roll cooperative far greater than the sum of its parts. They say some cats are born fantastic; others have fantasy thrust upon them. These guys are somewhere in the middle.
Alternative/pop rock band - Kids That Fly - formed in the fall of 2018, while attending the University of Connecticut. It wasn’t long before they fell into a rhythm playing shows around CT while simultaneously commuting in and out of NYC for recording both in Manhattan and Brooklyn; they have been on a trajectory ever since. In 2024, Kids That Fly take their alt/pop melodies and electrifying live show on the road, up and down the East Coast and beyond.
Be part of—wade into—the start of a two-month-long communal latch hook rug mosaic that will evolve throughout the time the exhibition is on view. Upon its completion, the latch hook becomes part of the Wading Room. This program has no fee, but feel free to make a donation!
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young are best known for their beautifully crafted vocal harmonies. v> Americana and roots singer-songwriter Jackie Greene is a jack-of-all-trades, and an artist who can croon over soulful piano ballads as much as he can shred a bluesy guitar solo (like he did as the lead guitarist for The Black Crowes in 2013). A road warrior and musician's musician, Greene's new EP 'The Modern Lives - Vol 2' (out October 2018 on Blue Rose Music) finds him at a new chapter in his life: his first months of fatherhood, time off his relentless touring circuit, and a cross-country move from Brooklyn to his birthplace of Northern California. This new collection of six original songs is a thematic extension of 'The Modern Lives - Vol 1' EP (released in 2017 on Blue Rose Music), imbued with a Brooklyn basement DIY feel and ethos. He is a student of American music, transfixed upon its progression through time, as well as how regional sounds fit in a contemporary context. Whereas 'Vol 1' saw Greene experiment with the Delta blues as a canvas for his examinations of modern society, 'Vol 2' sees Greene embrace the sounds of the bluegrass and folk tapes of his youth. Lead single "Crazy Comes Easy" showcases Greene's dynamic, multi-instrumental range as he plays slide guitar, organ, bass, and percussion, the guitar licks an appreciative nod to his time in The Black Crowes. Meanwhile, "Good Old Bad Times" highlights Greene as the songwriter as he rattles off lines like "How can somebody find a future? / If they ain't got a foothold in the past?" while taking a critical eye to the idea of nostalgia. Piano ballad "Victim Of The Crime" was one of Jackie's oldest demos up until the feel of these sessions gave him the tools to finish a song that, in his words, was written for his wife before she was his wife. While the title possesses a kind of melodrama, the song itself is tender and heartfelt as he details love's trials and tribulations. Greene partnered with Academy Award-nominated "king of indie animation" Bill Plympton for a series of music videos for 'The Modern Lives - Vol 1' that would eventually become an animated short film titled 'The Modern Lives'. The film is currently making the rounds at film festivals where it has already won the Jury Award at the USA Film Festival in Dallas, TX, and the Grand Remi Award / Best in Show at WorldFest in Houstin, TX. The short is also being exhibited at the 71st Festival de Cannes/Court Metrage, Melbourne International Animation Festival, and ASIFA-East Festival, amongst others. Since the release of his critically-acclaimed debut album 'Gone Wanderin’', Greene has built an enduring audience through a relentless touring schedule with the likes of BB King, Mark Knopfler, Susan Tedeschi, and Taj Mahal. He played lead guitar with The Black Crowes on their Layin’ Down With #13 World Tour, recorded and toured with Trigger Hippy - his supergroup with Joan Osborne - and in the last four years performed over 300 shows of his own, all while continuing to record and release his solo work. Greene is a frequent member of Phil Lesh & Friends, and sits in with countless other artists including Tedeschi Trucks Band, Govt Mule, Mississippi All-Stars, Amy Helm, Steve Earle, and Bob Weir. </

It’s dangerous to put Illiterate Light in a box, especially with the release of their new album, Arches . Are they a guitar-driven indie rock duo? Kaleidoscopic neo-psychedelia? Synth-kissed, harmony-laden folk? What does one do with an album beginning with “fake tits and diet coke,” then pivoting to train derailments in rural Ohio and never-ending black holes? These prolific farmers-turned-rockers have captured the energy of their live shows—fans crowd-surfing, moshing, crying, and crooning—and infused it into their latest release. “We’ve always been shape shifters, moving between heavy, dark distortion and gentle sweet fingerpicking, writing aggressive songs, introspective songs, and love songs, exploding and embracing,” reflects singer-guitarist Jeff Gorman. “Smashing it all together used to feel strange, but now there's a glue between everything we do. Our fans get it. They care less about genre. All they care about is feeling. And that’s all we care about. Are you alive or not?” Illiterate Light’s third album, Arches , is not a passageway but an arrival. “We’re no longer striving to define a sound,” said drummer Jake Cochran. “We’re leaning into sides of ourselves that have felt off-limits, sticking to what feels right rather than concerning ourselves with comparison.” Out November 1 via Thirty Tigers, the record is bursting with thunderous anthems, biting lyrics, and lush harmonies. The band originated in the Shenandoah Valley in 2015 when multi-instrumentalists Gorman and Cochran began playing music together while working on an organic farm. Eventually, they left the farm to focus on music, adopting the moniker Illiterate Light from a Wilco lyric. After several years of non-stop touring, they signed with Atlantic Records and released their eponymous full-length debut in late 2019. Two years later, they signed with Thirty Tigers and, in 2023, issued their critically acclaimed LP, Sunburned . Shortly after, they released two additional EPs, making Arches their fourth release in two years. Arches was recorded in two very different locations: small-town Appalachia at Gorman’s home studio and Hollywood, CA at Sunset Sound with producer Joe Chiccarelli (The Strokes, Beck, The Killers). “We wanted the best of both worlds,” says Gorman. “We spent several days with Joe at Sunset. To record vocals in the same live room as so many of my heroes—Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Dylan—was unreal. I knew I was in a holy place.” The LA session was paired with sessions in Virginia, where Gorman and Cochran co-produced the bulk of the record with longtime collaborator Danny Gibney. In their hometown, they experimented with soaring instrumental journeys and had friends sit in on the sessions to keep things lively. “Having our community stop by the sessions kept us on our toes—we haven’t been able to do that in the past. It helped connect us to the feeling of our live show,” recalls Cochran. Illiterate Light’s live performances, described by the Washington Post as “massive,” feature Gorman on one foot, hammering bass on a foot-pedal synth, shredding big guitar riffs, and spitting out song after song while Cochran matches Gorman harmony for harmony, dancing with his standing drum kit, teetering on the edge of the stage only to dive head first into his next solo. Arches is the closest you can get to their live show, with heavier songs like “I Ride Alone” and “Bloodlines” encapsulating the best of the writhing, uninhibited front-row experience. The keystone of the album, “Norfolk Southern,” crashes in with Gorman belting, “Here comes the Norfolk Southern / It's off the tracks / and heading for you,” with Cochran chanting, “break, break, break, break” to the ghost of the train that derailed in 2023 in East Palestine, Ohio, releasing 10,000 gallons of hazardous materials into the atmosphere. The song also serves as a metaphor for Gorman’s own turbulent feelings. “I certainly wanted to shine a light on the environmental catastrophe. But strangely, some days I feel just like that Norfolk Southern, barreling out of control at warp speed.” Gorman lets the lyrics take control. Showing up relentlessly, day after day, to his home studio dubbed “The Bookhouse” (a tribute to David Lynch's Twin Peaks ), he can’t predict what will arise. For the album's first track, “Payphone,” the opening lyrics were a surprise to Gorman: “Fake tits and diet coke / Full of undefeated hope / You are the only one I trust.” The jangly and groovy album opener is a pep talk between a woman named Big Red and her man as he faces crippling self-doubt and is self-medicating. She comforts him during a time of despair on a phone call that continues to drop. Another relationship study, “Montauk,” is a cold beachside dance under the full moon inspired by the central question in Gorman’s favorite movie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind . “Do we go for it again—even though we're destined to fail?” he asks. “For me, the answer is a resounding yes.” “All the Stars Are Burning Out” continues in that reflective vein. “It’s a throwback song, about getting high, going for a drive, dreaming up your future. You’re looking at that wide open black sky of bright stars, and they’re so beautiful and inspiring, and they make you want to follow your dreams. And yet all those stars eventually burn out. It’s a song about going for it even though life is impermanent and full of change,” Gorman said. The saying goes, “arches never sleep.” Designed to distribute weight evenly, arches naturally rebalance as the structure around them shifts over time. Illiterate Light’s Arches exists within this metaphor in many ways. The album marks a period of artistic strength, a balancing act of identity and possibility. To listen to Arches is to plant yourself within the arch, to stand in the threshold between two worlds and gaze into Gorman and Cochran’s constant motion forward.

In the past year, Lina and Dean stepped into the East End music scene as an acoustic duo with a self-produced EP and as the Lina Maxine five piece band performing across Long Island and in the City. Their new music set to release in the fall of 2025, features Lina's husky voice in harmony with Dean's tenor, blending rock and folk instrumental styles influenced by Fleetwood Mac, Kacey Musgraves, and Kings of Leon. With lyrics touching on hope and the dream state, Lina Maxine's new record promises an ethereal groove to the sun setting on Montauk Highway.
King Yellowman Jamaica's first dancehall superstar, Yellowman ushered in a new era in reggae music following Bob Marley's death. His early-'80s success brought the popularity of toasting -- the reggae equivalent of rapping -- to a whole new level, and helped establish dancehall as the wave of the future. For better or for worse, he also epitomized dancehall's penchant for "slack" lyrics -- that is, casual violence, sexism, homophobia, and general rudeness. Graphic sexuality was his particular forte, reaching levels of explicitness previously unheard in Jamaica. It brought him numerous detractors, but it was also a big reason for his early popularity. There was more to it than that, though; Yellowman was one of the most verbally nimble toasters of his time, with a loose, easy flow, a talent for improvisation, and a definite wit in his wordplay. Plus, all the boasting about his prowess on the mic or in the bedroom had to be over the top to be convincing: true to his stage name, Yellowman is an albino, which carries a tremendous social stigma in Jamaica. His rise to stardom was unlikely enough, but his transformation from untouchable outcast into sex symbol was staggering -- and may not even have taken place without his trademark lewdness. Shocking though it could be, it affirmed him as a sexual being just like his listeners, and was delivered with enough humor to let the audience know that he didn't take himself too seriously. Bouts with cancer pushed him into more thoughtful, socially conscious territory in the 1990s, but his initial style remains the most influential, paving the way for countless dancehall toasters to follow. He remained quiet through most of the 2000s before mounting a comeback with 2019's No More War. Yellowman was born Winston Foster in Negril, Jamaica, in 1959 (some accounts say 1956). An early target for abuse because of his albinism, he grew up in an institution in Kingston, with little to keep him company besides music. Influenced by early toasting DJs like U-Roy, he practiced rhyming and got a job with the Gemini Sound System as a substitute DJ. Christening himself Yellowman and dressing in a bright yellow suit, he peppered his lyrics with jokes about his skin color and outlandish tales of his sexual conquests. In 1979, he won a landslide victory at the well-known Tastee Talent Contest, and within months he had become one of Jamaica's top concert draws, thanks to a dynamic, humorous stage show in which he often used the microphone to mimic his anatomical gifts. Yellowman recorded prolifically in the early '80s, at one point flooding the Jamaican market with more than 40 singles. His first full-length album, Them a Mad Over Me, was recorded for Channel One in 1981 and featured the hit title track and the single "Me Kill Barnie," an answer record to Lone Ranger's hit "Barnabas Collins." He also scored with singles like "Operation Eradication" and the infamously slack "Shorties," which Peter Tosh condemned as degrading to women (hardly the first time such a criticism would be leveled at him). Despite this success, Yellowman didn't truly hit his stride on record until he hooked up with groundbreaking dancehall producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes. The 1982 LP Mister Yellowman kicked off their collaboration; released internationally by Greensleeves, it started to break him in the U.K. and U.S., and is still often acclaimed as his best album. It also launched a series of Jamaican hit singles over the next few years that included "Yellowman Getting Married" (a rewrite of the My Fair Lady number "I'm Getting Married in the Morning"), "Mr. Chin," "Who Can Make the Dance Ram" (a rewrite of "The Candy Man"), "Zungguzungguguzungguzeng" (sampled by several hip-hop acts), "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," "Soldier Take Over," "Nobody Move Nobody Get Hurt," and "Wreck a Pum Pum," among others. Many of his recordings during this era featured vocal contributions from fellow DJ/toaster Fathead, whose specialty was punctuating lines with animal noises ("ribbit" and "oink" were his favorites). After 1983's Zungguzungguguzungguzeng album, Yellowman signed a major-label deal with CBS Records, which encouraged him to maintain the stylistic versatility of his previous work. However, his lone album for the label, 1984's King Yellowman, sported mixed results, attempting everything from slack toasts to R&B and pop-tinged crossover tracks, including covers of "Sea Cruise" and "Take Me Home Country Roads," and the much-maligned fusion attempt "Disco Reggae." He subsequently released several albums on Shanachie, including 1984's Nobody Move Nobody Get Hurt, 1985's Galong Galong Galong, 1986's Going to the Chapel, and 1987's Don't Burn It Down. The latter found him delving more into social consciousness; the title cut was a pro-marijuana protest, while "Stop Beat Woman" condemned domestic violence and "Free Africa" criticized apartheid. Around the same time, he suffered a bout with cancer that required the removal of part of his jaw, leaving him facially disfigured. Always a fighter, he nonetheless returned to action with the hit Fats Domino cover "Blueberry Hill," and moved to the Ras label to record the well-received Yellow Like Cheese album with producer Philip "Fatis" Burrell. Yellowman's recording career continued apace, as his sexual boasts and gay jokes kept getting raunchier and nastier. His popularity had slipped after 1985, due in part to less consistent material, and also in part to the emergence of a legion of new dancehall artists, many of whom harked back to his early material for inspiration. Things changed, however, after an early-'90s bout with skin cancer. Greatly shaken after this second life-threatening illness, Yellowman completely rethought his approach to music, and thereafter devoted himself almost exclusively to spiritual and social concerns. 1994's Prayer album (still on Ras) was the first effort in this new direction, and it was followed quickly by Message to the World in 1995. 1997's Freedom of Speech continued in a similar vein, after which Yellowman switched over to the Artists Only label. His first effort was 1999's Yellow Fever, which concentrated on conscious reggae but also featured some good-natured party tracks. Following the 2003 release of New York, Yellowman entered a lengthy recording hiatus, though he continued to perform live. In 2019, 16 years after his last album, he returned with No More War. The LP was the inaugural release on Yellow Baby Records, a label launched by Yellowman's daughter K'reema, with whom he also collaborates.
When you hear Annie Trezza it's often hard to believe that all that sound comes out of one person. With groovy guitar riffs, 60's inspired melodies, and transportive lyrics, she projects an energy well beyond her size. Upon listening to Dylan and Beatles records on repeat at a young age, she felt compelled to pick up a guitar and start writing her own tunes at age 14. She spends her summers playing all around her home in Montauk, NY. In the off-season when she's not chasing the waves she's writing new music, and continuing to play anywhere in the world she finds herself. Between her distinctive voice and her poetic lyrics, it's hard not to get a little carried away when listening to any of her tunes. And that's okay because that's exactly what they're meant to do. With an album to follow, her EP Blue Suitcase #2 was released December 2019.
v> Merging the complex rhythms and Latin influences of South America with a modern fusion of funk and commercial dance music, Conga Cartel brilliantly combines to produce an explosive mix of dynamic music that rocks audiences to their very core. Working out of New York, the seven-piece band represent the wonderful tapestry of the South American continent and have been weaving together a stunning sound that has been entertaining crowds for years. A true international collection of experienced musicians, with band members coming from Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and New York itself, their music is undeniably infectious and underpinned by that audacious Latin flare. Fronted by the smokey and soaring vocals of Carolina, every single member of the band combines to become more than a sum of all their parts. Willy Fuentes from Chile drives the rhythm section with solid bass line grooves. Playing drums with boundless vitality, Jorge Castano, originally from Colombia, provides that perfect interplay with the rest of the band; complemented at all times by father and son percussionists Aquiles Jr. and Aquiles Senior. Infused with their Venezuelan heritage, they provide that infectious top line of congas, timbales, maracas, bongos, bells, and whistles that brings the carnival to the party. And finally, but by no means least, fitting like a smoldering glove of Santana-inspired guitar licks, Fabian Rodriguez from Ecuador proves his elegant mastery of the six-stringed instrument to audiences every time he performs. Conga Cartel has also egularly jammed with members of Mambo Loco. Conga Cartel have played at some of the most memorable events and venues in the Hamptons including The Montauk Music Festival, North-West ‘Woodstock’, Stephen Talkhouse, The Gig Shack , Springs Tavern, Tauk at Trails End, The Surf Club and The Harpoon House. Either individually or as a band, they have worked with artists such as Taylor Dayne, Orquesta Alquimia, Steel Pulse, Mila Tina, GE Smith, Big Karma, Mambo Loco, and Bajo Suen?os. As these performances and legacy demonstrate, they firmly believe in providing a platform and a strong voice for the Latin community. That incredible experience on stage and unique understanding of the musical journey that their audiences are on, is also driving them towards the studio and an album recording that is eagerly anticipated by their fans. Bringing together that melting pot of cultures with modern dance tunes is an intoxicating mix of ingredients that will redefine what is expected of the Conga Cartel. As the world experienced the tragedies of the last two years, so did the lives of musicians descend into anxiety and the loss of their dreams. Now the world has turned and the future looks so much brighter with the Conga Cartel back in it. Stronger together with a musical bond that cannot be broken, they are once again taking to the spotlight with the energy that defines the joy and wonder of life. There is nothing finer than hearing the Conga Cartel in full flight. Their collective knowledge of syncopated rhythms and inspiring, sophisticated melodies are a testament to their own self-belief and desire to take their music to the next level. Music is a part of all of our DNA and is the one thing that binds us as human beings. That cultural exchange that the Conga Cartel represents, lives through us in joy, love, celebration and song. Fall in love with music all over again and experience the future with the Conga Cartel. </

Nancy Atlas and her band of Journeymen have been dominating the East End Music scene or Long Island for quite some time. Known for her raw, live performances and stellar songwriting Nancy and her band, The Nancy Atlas Project, have opened for almost everyone under the sun. To name a few: Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Buffett, Crosby, Stills and Nash… the list goes on and on. The reason is simple. When people want a solid act to open their show and get the crowd warmed up, they call Nancy and her boys because they know they will deliver. Every time. Nancy grew up with gypsy blood in Commack, NY. Eager to get the buck out of dodge she spent her entire college years abroad at both Cambridge University in England and Richmond College in London and Florence. She majored in art history, fine art, drinking lots of wine and talking shit. There was a serious recession going on the year she graduated college so instead of becoming a mad advertising executive she walked down to Portabello Road, London, bought a guitar for 60 quid and never looked back. It was pouring buckets of English rain that day so they gave her a black plastic bag to cover her guitar as it didn’t come with a case. Nothing, it is said, can stop true desire. Nancy now lives in Montauk, New York with her husband Thomas and her two sons, Cash and Levon, and her daughter Tallulah. When she is not writing a song or on stage rocking out, she can be found clamming with her kids, surfing with her kids, walking with her kids, reading with her kids or cartooning for her kids. On rainy days she lazily traces tour maps of Europe with her right hand while sipping her beloved PG Tibs English Tea and smiling out into the East End Mist. </blockqu

With her enchanted voice and evocative songwriting, Leslie Mendelson has won the hearts and minds of both an adoring fanbase and fellow artists alike. No less than Jackson Browne has declared, “Leslie's melodies are timeless. They reach me way back in my youth somewhere. I hear traces of Burt Bacharach and Carole King, and hooks and passages that remind me of the pop songs I grew up hearing on the radio,” while The Wallflowers frontman Jakob Dylan shares: “Voices like Leslie’s can get away with almost anything. Along with being a great songwriter, this leaves her with few if any peers.” A Grammy Award-nominated artist, Mendelson returns this summer with her fourth studio album, After The Party . For this latest effort, she collaborates with not one, but three producers: the legendary Peter Asher (James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt), the young, in-demand Tyler Chester (Madison Cunningham, Sara Bareilles, Sara Watkins) and her longtime songwriting partner, three-time Grammy Award-winner, Steve McEwan. Recorded at Jackson Browne’s studio Grove Masters in Santa Monica, CA, she was joined by an ace band featuring guitarists Waddy Wachtel and John Jorgenson, bassists Leland Sklar and Derrick Anderson, and drummers Jim Keltner and Abe Rounds. “Collaboration was so important to me with these songs. My previous album, If You Can’t Say Anything Nice… looked inward and was often colored by the dark socio-political climate circa 2018 and 2019 when it was written. Throw in the pandemic during which it was released, and it just became really clear that I needed to have fun making music again,” explains Mendelson. “When the opportunity presented itself to have both Tyler and Peter produce me, along with Steve who’s been with me since the very beginning of my career, it felt as if the stars had aligned and were demanding that I indulge in the joy of creating with all of these musical geniuses who wanted to work together.” Throughout After The Party ’s ten tracks, Mendelson crafts a distinctive folk-rock, pop-Americana flavor, evoking the sounds of Laurel Canyon, but with the downtown grit and sharp wit of Brooklyn, the city she has called home for over two decades now. There’s a refreshing realness and effortless musicality that feels both nostalgic and new on songs like “Rock And Roll On The Radio,” “Signs Of Life,” and “I Know A Lot Of People.” The album’s first single “Other Girls” is an intoxicating twist of aural voyeurism mixed with a healthy dose of sexual openness. Its chorus suggestively musing, "I like it, I said I like it when you talk about other girls.” "‘Other Girls,' is about women empowering women,” says Mendelson. “Who doesn’t love women?! It’s also another way of looking at conventional relationships and indulging in fantasy. A bit of commentary on the ever-changing world we live in.” Other standout tracks, “Have a Little Heart,” "The Good Life” and the title track offer warm musings on a life worth living and a newfound appreciation for the little things. “I would love for this record to connect,” said Mendelson. “I think there’s something in there to speak to people. There are personal moments, there are moments of fun, where you can turn it up loud and sing along, and there are moments of reflection. This record is an emotional journey, and I hope that people can take it with me.” “Leslie is one of these very rare singers who can combine elegant precision with the soul and emotional resonance of a deeply moving writer and performer,” concludes producer, Peter Asher. "She has a remarkable voice and one we need to hear.”

A longtime actor of the stage and silver screen, a chance encounter with The Lone Bellow's lead vocalist Brian Elmquist a few years back persuaded him to take his guitar from Hollywood to Nashville, where he has been crafting a sound equal parts Americana, Southern Rock and Country. Shawn has released a number of songs including "Hell If I Know", "Disco Ball Blues" and "Grateful", produced by Elmquist and featuring a unique sound -- with echoes of icons and influences like Sturgill Simpson and J.J. Cale -- blended by Parsons in smoky barrooms from Alabama to the Catskills. The result is a sonic tapestry woven from a Southern upbringing, a respect for karma, and an unyielding conviction that it's never too late. This will be Shawn and his band's debut at The Talkhouse.

v> Theo Kandel's music is a tapestry, with each song woven together like a thread of memory through your life. It’s a beer around the campfire with friends; it’s a baguette you picked up at the farmer’s market; it’s the night’s last cigarette on the porch when everyone else has gone to bed. The New York-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, producer, and multi- instrumentalist zeroes in on everyday details and extracts wonder from them. This spirit surges through his eloquently-fashioned folk amplified by just the right dose of rock energy. It’s also fueled his quiet rise as a phenomenon with millions of streams and packed shows. After a series of what he describes as “test releases,” he emerged in 2021 with his debut EP, Spin Cycle, which incited the applause of FLAUNT, OnesToWatch, and more. Theo then said farewell to Nashville and set his sights on Los Angeles. His 2022 EP, What if it all works out in the end?, was highlighted by “Me & All My Friends Have Got the Blues,” a modern-day folk tune à la Jackson C. Frank and James Taylor. The lead single from that project, “Flight to JFK,” has reeled in over 500k streams to date. Between headlining dates of his own, he supported Evan Honer, ROSIE, WINGTIP, KT Tunstall, AJR, and even the legendary John Oates. Following the release of his stripped-down EP, Somewhere Along the Trail, Vol. 1, he released a duet with Evan Honer of his song “Flight to JFK (Alt. Version) and signed to Nettwerk. His debut album is due for a Fall 2024 release via the label. The first single from that record, Lunch, is out now </

Born and raised on the beautiful island of Anguilla, Omari Banks found his musical calling at a young age when he first took the stage in Milan, Italy to sing alongside his father Bankie Banx . The emotions conveyed through music touched his heart and a star was born. Founding his inspiration through an eclectic genre of music, Omari went on to perfect his craft by writing and becoming a proficient guitar player. The budding star went on to win multiple talent shows but as a teenager turned his attention to the sport of Cricket, where he excelled first locally, then regionally and ultimately on the world stage. Omari Banks became the first Anguillan to play test cricket for the West Indies. In 2010, Omari made the decision to move on and pursue his passion for music. With a lifetime of experiences and life lessons, he immersed himself in songwriting and perfecting his musicianship. He dedicated himself to his music and created his debut album, “Move On” recorded in Kingston, Jamaica and Houston, Texas. With a simple musical mission, to spread messages of love and consciousness, his assimilation of traditional Jamaican Reggae music, accentuated with Rock and Blues backbeats, is an adult contemporary fusion that blends seamlessly with Lovers Rock and R ‘n’ B. Omari has to date released several breakthrough singles, as well hit filled albums such as “Move On Deluxe Edition” and "Sunlight, all of them paired with a compilation of music videos with the hopes of reaching a bigger audience through a more global approach. This bold global approach is a testament to the multi-award winning recipient’s drive and determination, despite the dawning of a musical journey that has only just begun.” I want to use the gifts I’ve been blessed with to have a positive influence on people. I can communicate to all levels of thinking from a child to an adult and my music is ageless and really touches lives because the stories are true and talk about what’s really going on.” - Omari Banks
